dead. >> reporter: we are told by police that man was 37 years old and he was from san jose. his wife was taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out but we're told she is okay. police are interviewing her. they do believe that they were an estranged couple because they did not live together. the roommate the person that called this in she is okay. she is being interviewed by police and back at the police station. top officers involved in this shooting are now on paid administrative leave. officers are still processing this scene. they are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. as far as the residents that live in the area. a lot of them had to park far away and then walk in because right now at this point, no one is being allowed in. if they were here when the incident happened and they could stay here, but some people who are just driving up and wanting to get home, they are not allowed to drive in because again this is still an active police investigation. we're also being told as far as in the city of fremont this is the first officer involved shooting of the year. report
